During the six weeks, the group will live on the campus in dormitories and travel on numerous excursions to historic sites, business enterprises, tour the South Carolina Governor's Mansion, and attend social functions. As part of the exchange program, the students also will have the opportunity to attend lectures and seminars.

Dr. Stacey Franklin Jones, Vice President for Sponsored Programs and Research, is the principle for this cultural exchange. "We are looking to the future and towards growing partnerships between two technology and culturally diverse powerhouses," said Dr. Stacey Franklin Jones. "Interestingly enough, both Benedict College and Dali University student populations represent minority populations in each country".

bc students foreign exchanged chineseThe project is an American-Chinese Education project, which is both cross-discipline and cross culture. The purpose of this project is to facilitate academic cooperation between the United States and China, strengthen the international collaboration in higher education in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and enhance the cultural communication between the United States and China. The United States and China are two leaders for the 21st century; scientific exchange between these two countries is significant.

This program seeks to better understand the nature, barriers, and advantages, and to obtain successful experiences, in transforming US undergraduate education.

The American-Chinese academic exchange is a positive step towards United States undergraduate science education embracing globalization. It will generate and heighten awareness of the state-of-the-art technologies that are nearing deployment and that can be especially useful or relevant to businesses and consumers in South Carolina.
